In Search of Agricola
Gnaeus Julius Agricola served in Rome as the commander of the Praetorian Guard for Emperor Caesar Augustus. He became the prefect of Egypt and in AD 47 he was appointed as the second Governor of Britain. Agricola served with the Legions in Britain during the revolt of Boudicca in AD 60. He defeated the Caledonian tribes at the famous battle of Mons Graupius in Scotland. According to Tacitus, his son-in-law, his achievements and success came at a great cost to him and to Rome. Once back in Rome he held various offices and served as tribune and praetor. Join me on my search for Agricola.
