If you want to read and enjoy a book about a passionate love affair, then this is the book for you. Dear basketball, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. My love for basketball is couched in uplifting and inspiring optimism that will leave the readers feeling a little envious of this epic romance. I've loved the sport everywhere I've been - different countries, many states, several senior centers, tournaments everywhere - watching it and playing it has brought me a sense of joy and fulfillment that those who love or have loved any sport will understand. I try and sprinkle a variety of self-deprecating, insightful, ironic and a little noir humor throughout the book, because if you can't laugh at life's experiences, then there is a missing element to one's existence. In addition, I work to make a connection between basketball and my personal ideals mainly concerning equality, inclusion, fairness and a burning desire to be successful at this sport. A major theme in the book is the journey of eight aging players who have chased and dreamed of winning a medal in the National Senior Games for over twenty-years with no success and time running out. Much of this book is their story.
