Robert A. Pearce has authored four books, Will Warlie, USMC, Wished I had Taken Mother's Advice; The Owens Valley Controversy and A.A. Brierly: The Untold Story; Bad Man or Good Friend: The Life Story of Cliff Ragan, Outlaw; and A Brother Lost, a Tribute to Hugh B. Pearce. Rob was born in Bishop, California. He is the fifth generation of his family to live in Bishop. He received his B.


S. from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in Agricultural Management, his M.S. is from Texas A&M in Range Science, and his Ph.D. is from Colorado State University in Rangeland Ecosystem Science. The book cover for Rob's book, "A Brother Lost" was designed by Rebecca Johnson and received The Silver Award for book cover design by the American Authors Association in 2004. Rob is passionate about Eastern Sierra history and has for many years written a column in the Inyo Register about local history events.


He has many passions including showing and training reining horses, restoring his grandfather's (A.A. Brierly) 1950 Dodge pickup, remote control helicopters, and hiking in Inyo and Mono Counties. During his life Rob was an Advanced SCUBA diver and a Private Helicopter pilot. Rob has published many scientific articles related to rangelands and rangeland management.
