Serbian Grandmaster Milos Pavlovic covers all the lines of the Open Ruy in a book (TheModernized Open Ruy Lopez) that can be used by players playing either colorof this classic opening. A half a century ago Bent Larsen wrote a smallpamphlet for amateur players titled Why Not the Open Ruy Lopez? TheGreat Dane made a case that Black's active piece play and strategically clearplans made it a perfect fit for the non-professional and that advice stillholds true.
