The Spanish text is comprised of the lyrics to an Orozco song that encourages readers/listeners to find, identify, and count items and words in the illustrations.
The English text, located below the Spanish, offers only a brief, pithy synopsis of the Spanish without attempting to reproduce the entire meaning. Perhaps this is because the full translations, offered in the final pages, leave much to be desired. What redeems this effort is the powerful, arresting art. Bold, black outlines attempt to rein in the energetic, smoky colors of each vibrant figure. Every page invites readers into a busy, crowded scene full of people, animals, and things--a raucous dinner table, a bustling street scene, a playroom full of toys, etc. Most readers will bypass the text in order to immerse themselves in the illustrations. Musical notation is included.
