"Ain't Gotta Be the Way It's Always Been" is a story describing personal growth, setting priorities and decisionary leadership. The "Ain't Gotta Be" story tells of a grandfather, his son, and grandson on a fishing trip in search of the fabled golden trout. Having back packed into a remote alpine wilderness, the two younger members of the family learn that fishing is different from catching. They discover the wisdom of Grandpa, as well as the truth behind the mysterious "Legend of Paradise Winter." Grandpa shares with his young grandson how to do some problem solving to help the youngster navigate through life. In the process, Grandpa's relationship with his own son takes a turn for the better when his son decides to hear the lessons that he was never able to hear as a youth because of the emotional separation he felt from his father after his parents divorced. While Grandpa's son and grandson try to figure out how to catch the seeming elusive golden trout, the two are taught concepts and principles that affect their priorities and assist in a major career and family decision that the son is in the midst of making. Grandpa also shares another "tool" he has developed over the years that help the younger men understand "why we do what we do.

" As the trip nears its end, the enthusiasm and excitement having solved the mystery of the legend shifts to the young men realizing the life-changing potential they have been taught by Grandpa. The concepts and principles are not only for personal and family direction and guidance, but also apply to organizational and business success.
