Steve Noble and Brent Smith both live in Grimes, Iowa. They have over 60 combined years in the Farm Toy Business/Toy Hobby. Steve grew up on the family farm near Grimes and still lives on the families Century Farm. Steve restored his first tractor, an Oliver 60 Row Crop when he was 14 for a 4H project and today he owns 8 other Oliver tractors plus a lot of Oliver Toys. Steve and his brother ran a few sets of wheels off there Ertl Oliver 1850 Pedal Tractor. Why Oliver's? His grandfather had the Oliver Farm Dealership in Grimes in the mid 50's and he has always been around the Oliver line. Steve used to test drive a lot of new Eska and Ertl Oliver Pedal Tractors before his Grandpa sold them to customers. He wishes he still had some of those tractors.
The Oliver Dealership always had a few farm toys around for sale or if you bought a real tractor you might get a toy thrown in on the deal. Steve took the toys to the next level when the first White Farm Equipment Toy Tractors came out. He started selling all brands and scales of toys from several companies. He remembers the first White Pedal Tractor offered by Scale Models of Dyersville, Iowa back in the 80's and has since sold several hundred pedals over the years. The implement Store is where Brent and Steve first met. They were both in Grimes and both enjoyed farm toys but didn't know each other. Brent came in and bought a bunch of 1/64th tractors from Steve and they got to talking. The rest is history.
Steve had Brent restore his childhood 1850 Oliver pedal which he still has. They still set up at a few shows together and are always helping each other out. When they had the chance to purchase the copyright and publishing rights to update the Criswell Pedal Tractor Guide, they thought it would be a fun project to do.
