Kaname Otonashi is gifted with a super-hearing ability. He can even hear voices from the "otherside" - of the dead. He once worked for a police department as a detective, with the Crime Scene Unit and his specialty was Sound Engineering Investigation. He was appraised as a top notch detective but he later resigns from a force and becomes a private investigator. Yasuhide, (aka.
