Archaeology has made enormous advances over the past 150 years.Within these pages we look back, to the more serene age of classically trained rchaeologists. Emphasis however is placed on contemporary archaeological methods. As a child I grew up in Wales Cardiff was only 4 miles away, and conveniently had a National Museum.I made frequent trips there and would often bombard the Curator about 'this and that'Roman or Celtic coin'.My enthusiasm for History and Archaeology led me to explore an Iron-Age hillside settlement at Dinas Powys. A newspaper printed my account of the site.Later I took 'Prehistory and Early Agriculture' at the University of Manchester, should anything in these pages enthuse anyone to become an archaeologist then I will feel my job is done.
For seasoned historians and archaeologists perhaps this 'book of sorts' will afford them some form of reading matter, if only as as a form of escape after another tedious day searching for artefacts.
