Joseph M. Moran retired from the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay where he served as the Barbara Hauxhurst Professor of Natural Sciences and the chair of the Department of Earth Science at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay. He also served as the associate director of the American Meteorological Society's Education Program. 1944-2018. He authored Wisconsin's Weather and Climate with Edward Hopkins in 2002 A portion of the book is used in this publication. He published Tornadoes of Fire at Williamsonville, Wisconsin October 8, 1871with E. Lee Somerville in 1990 also used in this publication.
