Scott L. Miller was born and raised in the St. Louis area, double majoring in psychology and English at St. Louis University. He completed his master's in social work and worked as a licensed clinical social worker in a number of public and private psychiatric and medical settings. A class taught by the late John Gardner proved an early inspiration to his writing career, and a later, direct teaching influence came from multiple correspondences with author Jeremiah Healy. His fascination about the complexities, strengths, and fragility of the human mind in the context of society led him to pen a series of mystery/suspense novels with a social work protagonist in private practice. His earlier traditionally published novels include Interrogation, Counterfeit, and The Virtual Suicide Machine.
He is at work on the fourth in the series in addition to a number of other standalone novels. He is a member of the St. Louis Writer's Guild and lives in Chesterfield, MO with his beagles Romeo and Juliet. He is an avid trivia/word game aficionado, hiker, movie buff, dog lover, and horseplayer and micro-share thoroughbred owner whose horse Authentic won the Kentucky Derby in 2020.
