Pearl Hart & the Violent Men, which is also written as a screenplay, was honored by True West Magazine, January 2023, for their Best of the West: Best Western Historical Novelist and Novel. Martin's screen credits include three Western movies now produced. Martin's screenplay for Shadow on the Mesa, starring Kevin Sorbo, Wes Brown, and Gail O'Grady, was based on Martin's novel of the same title (Five Star Publishing, 2014). The movie was the second-highest-rated and second-most-watched original movie in Hallmark Movie Channel's history when it premiered in 2013. The film also won the prestigious Wrangler Award given by the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City for Best Original TV Western Movie.
