Dr. William M. Manger graduated from Yale University in 1944 and received his medical degree from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1946. Between 1950 and 1955 he was a Fellow in Medicine at the Mayo Clinic. He obtained a PhD from the University of Minnesota in 1958. Dr. Manger has a lifelong history of emphasizing the civic message of prevention as the first course of action with chronic illnesses. In 1977 he founded the National Hypertension Association.
Under his leadership NHA has conducted groundbreaking research on hypertension. Dr. Manger has written and coauthored five medical books, four books for laypersons, and more than 240 scientific publications. Dr. Manger has chosen to devote his time, resources, and unbridled energy to improving lives-especially of the underserved and those yet to be served.
