Speaks truth to power at a decibel level that will be heard across our nation.  In the annals of the Church, there are few leaders who are greater or who have spoken with a clearer voice than Rev. Dr. Joseph E. Lowery. Born during the height of the Jim Crowe era in Huntsville, Alabama, Dr. Lowery has been singing the Lord's song in a strange land his whole life. Life, he says, is a strange land, not as orderly as we might like, but even so we must do his will, even in and under difficult circumstances.
Singing the Lord's Song in a Strange Land celebrates many milestones of the Civil Rights movement in which Dr. Lowery played a significant part including the infamous march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama in 1964. Included in the book are sermons such as the funeral message preached at Coretta Scott King's funeral; speeches; prayers; and the benediction given at President Obama's inauguration in Washington D.C.
