Once We Were Kids
The novella follows six teens in the summer between seventh and eighth grade. It describes their teachers, their personalities and how they interact on the way to trying to find something special, hidden by the local gang. The year is 1968, the Vietnam War is raging and it is on their minds and in their world. The music is Jimi Hendrix, Cream and many of those who attended Woodstock. Girls are a lead topic of discussion; and camping in the woods, and going to girls' babysitting houses, are two summer activities. It is a coming of age while just entering their teens.
