We will always find ourselves to be halfway between everywhere, as this volume of poetry attests. The author has a linguistically intricate ear and a forceful, passionate intellect, and when they work together, the poems blaze with a fluent originality. The result is work as varied as it is thrilling to read and insightful to think on. These poems linger in the memory, like a song one cannot let go of. They ring and ring in the mind. Yet this work does not let anyone, even itself, off of imagination's deep subconscious hooks and crannies that mine truth from our fears and from our hopes. And so, as if just awaking, these poems reverberate out from all of our dreams - into the everyday mundane - to shock us, to realize that, awake, we are still asleep.
