Jim Jackson was an average guy with an above-average job and a way above-average beautiful bride. He didn't think life could be any better. He was right. His storybook life becomes a nightmare and he might not wake up. A drunk driver sets in motion a chain of events that leaves bodies everywhere and all of them connected to Jim. In an instant - the blink of an eye - life for a small group of people will change in ways they couldn't imagine. The police accuse him of murder. His boss wants to fire him.
And the only people he trusts are his secretary and, reluctantly, a female cop with issues of her own. A shadowy character who seems to know all about him and what the police are going to do before they do it befriends Jim. Meanwhile, a homicidal maniac is killing cops and civilians everywhere Jim goes. Is his shadowy "friend" the killer or is he trying to protect Jim from the real killer? It becomes harder for Jim to sort out the good guys from the bad guys. Detective Shannon O'Brien is trying to protect Jim and his secretary, Samantha (Sam), but can't protect herself from falling in love with the Assistant Medical Examiner Ling Ya. The Chinese-American doctor is Shannon's physical opposite, but strong and determined. At over six feet, Shannon is a competitive kick boxer, aggressive and always in control except when she drops her emotional guard. The foursome is bound up in a series of events they have no control over and will almost certainly claim all of their lives.
