Note from BP - We published a Carson's book last year - Carson's and Bon-Ton are owned by the same company. On Boscov's and Bon-Ton Accounts - Al Boscov contributed a "word" for the book, and Michael was also given access to some photos from Bon-Ton's archives. Lisicky has offered to contact Boscov's, even Al's secretary for guidance. Even though they are a big firm, it is still fairly homey in there. Lisicky has developed a nice relationship with the Bon-Ton CEO and he has offered to have a conversation with them as well. He thinks the book could possibly sell into some specific stores but not across the chains. Lisicky on the cover - The store on the cover is the Camp Hill store, outside Harrisburg. It was the most popular and profitable store and it is still open as a Bon Ton.
It makes for a great location for sales/events. The fact that Boscov's name is on the cover is great because it draws interest for his stores, yet it is small enough in print so Bon-Ton wouldn't be threatened! That is good marketing. I like the Wilkes-Barre photo, the strange controversial renovation, and I like that even though a Harrisburg area store is on the cover, Reading is duly noted first in the copy. It covers all bases.
