Colin Mcdonald of the clan McDonald has no home to come home to having fought with his brother over a woman Colin once loved. Colin had left choosing for the last five years to serve as a Templar Kight escorting pilgrims and protecting Christian artifacts from Arab warriors of the Holy Lands. He has nowhere left to go but home. He and his fellow Templars were attacked on this last mission to transport the Sacred Cross of St Stephen, the first Christian martyr to Rome.After which the men would disband and return to their homes. They are ambushed by the warriors of Saludine, all of his men are killed. Colin knocked unconscious, survives by an accident and wakens to find the men he has ridden with for five years are all dead. Colin knows King Philip has turned on the Templars and is trying to exterminate every Templar in Europe to steal their money and lands.

Colin makes the dangerous journey across the lands Philip has sent mercenaries and soldiers to exterminate remaining Templar Knights, only to find out his brother has been murdered in the HIghlands. He must now take the responsibility of his clan as their Laird.
