In the wake of the Mexican-American War, a rogue band of Irishmen known as Saint Patrick's Battalion disappears into the heart of Mexico. Finding sanctuary amidst the volcanoes verging along Veracruz, they found their own community, christening it Little Dublin. But the township quickly becomes corrupt. After a struggle for power, a native-born Mexican with an iron fist seizes the reins and imposes tyranny on the soldiers who wronged him. All the while, a ne'er-do-well veteran with a penchant for cutting cards bets his wife in a game of poker.and loses.With both money and matrimony now taken from him, the cardsharp ventures north to the New Mexico Territory to enlist the help of his brother in order to save his wife and topple the tyrant.
