Daniel B. Jones is Chief of Minimally Invasive Surgical Services, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, Massachusetts, and Associate Professor of Surgery, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts. He is also founder of the Southwestern Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery and is codirector of the Harvard Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery. An internationally recognized leader in the field, he is the author of more than 100 professional publications. The recipient of the Gold Laparoscope Award (2001) from the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, he serves on the SAGES Board of Governors and is a member of the SSAT Foundation, the American College of Surgeons, the Association of Surgical Education, and the American Society for Bariatric Surgery. He received the M.D. degree from Cornell University Medical College, New York, New York.


Justin S. Wu is Staff Surgeon, Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, San Diego, California, and Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery, University of California, San Diego. He is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, the American Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, the Southwestern Surgical Congress, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). He is a council committee member of the San Diego Chapter of ACS and the San Diego Society of General Surgeons. He received the M.D. degree (1993) from Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts. Soper is Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs and Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago, Illinois, and Professor of Surgery, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago, Illinois. A pioneer in the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders with minimally invasive surgery, he is the author or editor of more than 150 peer reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and textbooks. Dr. Soper is the editor-in-chief of Problems in General Surgery and serves on the editorial boards of many respected periodicals. He has been named in The Best Doctors in America since 1991. He is President of the International Society of Digestive Surgery and Past-President of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, as well as a member of the American College of Surgeons, among other organizations. He received the M.D.
