Love Story is a romantic drama that asks: Can love be enough? In August 1997, Dr. William Wise, Dr. Terry Moretti, and several of their colleagues attend the Annual Psychological Conference in Toronto where their previously professional relationship turns into something much more after Terry pays William a surprise visit in his suite following a heated debate during dinner. William and Terry's subsequent romance is no less fraught with drama than during their earlier dinner debate. Both have baggage from previous relationships, and both struggle to find a way to move forward when the past still has such a strong hold on them. Adding to the stresses of relationships, they come from different worlds. Their friends and family look down on their relationship because of racial differences. As they struggle with forces outside their relationship, they find themselves surrounded by the shortcomings of hypocritical arguments, high-drama, and even life-changing violence.
