Eileen Johnson is the Director of an innovative preschool in downtown New York City, where she has developed a curriculum of Emotional Education for young children. The school has a high teacher/ pupil ratio, and children's psychological development is carefully studied by teachers. Children are taught to understand themselves, and to express their feelings in healthy ways. Their need for play and experiential learning is respected and they are encouraged to develop their interests to the fullest extent. They become autonomous partners in their own cognitive and emotional growth. The school has attracted a large number of parents who value the nurturing and creative environment as well as the acceptance of their children's diverse personalities. The school provides feedback and support in the important work of parenting.Eileen was educated in University College Dublin and Trinity College, as well as New York University, and has 25 years teaching experience in High School, Elementary School, and Nursery School.
Eileen is the author of "The Children's BiIl of Emotional Rights" published by Jason Aronson 2012, and co-author of "What Happens When You Die: Three to Four Year Olds Chatting about Death," published by Jason Aronson 2009.
