A sub-committee of the National Committee, consisting of Hon. John C.New, Indiana; Hon. John A. Logan, Illinois; Hon.D.
M.Sabin, Minnesota; Hon. Christopher L. Magee, Pennsylvania; Hon. Powell Clayton, Arkansas; Hon. W.C. Cooper, Ohio; and Hon.
John A. Martin, Kansas, were intrusted with the duty of visiting Chicago, appointing a local Committee of Arrangements, and taking charge of the preparations for the Convention. Hon. John C.New was made Chairman of this committee. Hon. John A. Logan being unable to act, Hon.
