Peter Irwin is a Principal of Rowan, Williams, Davies and Irwin, Inc. Peter joined the company in 1980 and served as president from 19992008. His experience in wind engineering dates back to 1974 and includes extensive research and consulting in wind loading, aeroelastic response, wind tunnel methods and instrumentation, as well as supervising many hundreds of wind engineering studies of major structures. He has worked on the Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpur; Taipei 101, Taiwan; Two International Finance Centre, Hong Kong; and the Burj Khalifa, Dubai. Roy Denoon joined CPP in 2004 following several years working in Hong Kong, where he was responsible for the wind engineering of such iconic tall buildings as Union Square in Hong Kong and the CCTV Headquarters in Beijing. Since joining CPP, Roy has been responsible for numerous tall building projects throughout the world and now leads CPP's structural wind engineering group. He recently supervised the instrumentation of Burj Khalifa in Dubai to monitor its long-term dynamic response characteristics and is enjoying analyzing the results. David Scott is currently the structural director of the Engineering Excellence Team at Laing O'Rourke.
He is also a past Chairman of the CTBUH (20062009), and led Arup's business practice in the Americas for many years. He was at the forefront of many of Arup's biggest projects, including work on the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank and Cheung Kong Center. He also spent 15 years based in southeast Asia, where he was involved with Arup's first major projects in China, Korea, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat is the world's leading resource for professionals focused on the design, construction, and operation of tall buildings and future cities. A not-for-profit organization based at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, the group facilitates the exchange of the latest knowledge available on tall buildings around the world through events, publications, research, working groups, web resources, and its extensive network of international representatives. The CTBUH also developed the international standards for measuring tall building height and is recognized as the arbiter for bestowing such designations as The World's Tallest Building.
