Excerpt from The Dangers of British India, From French Invasion and Missionary EstablishmentsAt the present moment, when the inveterate enemy of this country is exerting all the efforts of his mind, and all the strength of the states which he has enslaved, to accomplish our ruin as a free and independent nation, it becomes, more than ever, our duty to unite hand, head, and heart, in opposing his designs; and to suspend, and forget altogether, those party animosities, whether civil or religious, which may in any way diminish or distract our efforts. There is nothing which can so effectually paralyze these efforts as the diffusion of an idea, that one part of the people is oppressed by the other, and has a less interest in the preservation and maintenance of the existing government. Nor is the idea more injurious than it is unjust.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
