Peter Hodgkinson worked for his professional life as a clinical psychologist, specialising firstly in forensic work, and latterly with trauma and sudden, violent death.In 2006 he completed the MA in British First World War Studies at the University of Birmingham and then obtained his PhD in the Department of War Studies. He is the author of 'Coping with Catastrophe - A Handbook of Post-Disaster Psychological Aftercare' (1998). His military history books include: 'British Battalion Commanders in the First World War' (2015); 'Glum Heroes - Hardship, Fear and Death - Resilience and Coping in the British Army on the Western Front 1914-1918' (2016); and 'The Battle of the Selle - Fourth Army Operations on the Western Front 9-24 October 1918. (2017). He is also the author of a number of chapters and journal articles on the First World War. He lives in South London.
