Hell has been writing novels and poetry for over twenty five years. In 1996 Codex published his 1973 first novel The Voidoid. However, it is as a leading light of the New York punk scene that Hell is best-known. He produced proto-punk classics Blank Generation and Love Comes In Spurts, and collaborated with renowned Television front-man Tom Verlaine.
