Beth M. Schwartz is Chair and Thoresen Professor of Psychology and Assistant Dean of the College at Randolph College. She received a B.A. at Colby College (ME) and a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Her scholarship has focused on two areas of interest; the scholarship of teaching and learning/pedagogical research and childrens memory development and how this applies to childrens eyewitness reports.


In addition to numerous professional presentations at conferences, she has published many book chapters and articles in a variety of scholarly journals, including: Journal of Higher Education ; Law and Human Behaviors ; and Applied Developmental Science . She has also edited and authored books, including Child Abuse: A Global View (Schwartz, McCauley, & Epstein, 2001), Optimizing Teaching and Learning (Gurung & Schwartz, 2009), and Evidence-based Teaching for Higher Education (Schwartz & Gurung, 2012). She is a member of American Psychological Association (APA) and Association for Psychological Science (APS), and a Fellow of Division Two of APA (Society for the Teaching of Psychology). She is an award-winning teacher at Randolph College where she teaches Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods, Cognitive Psychology, and the Capstone Course. She also won the Award for Outstanding Teaching and Mentoring from the American Psych-Law Society, and the Distinguished Faculty Achievement Certificate from State Council of Higher Education for Virginia. R. Eric Landrum is a Professor of Psychology at Boise State University, receiving his Ph.D.


in Cognitive Psychology (with an emphasis in quantitative methodology) from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in 1989. His research interests center on the study of educational issues, identifying those conditions that best facilitate student success (broadly defined). He has over 300 professional presentations at conferences and published 20 books or book chapters, and has published over 75 professional articles in scholarly, peer-reviewed journals. His work has appeared in journals such as Teaching of Psychology , College Teaching , and the Journal of College Student Development . He has worked with 300 undergraduate research assistants and taught over 12,000 students in 21 years at Boise State. During Summer 2008, he led a working group at the National Conference for Undergraduate Education in Psychology concerned with the desired results of an undergraduate psychology education. Eric is the lead author of The Psychology Major: Career Options and Strategies for Success (5th ed., 2013), and also authored Undergraduate Writing in Psychology: Learning to Tell the Scientific Story (Revised ed.


, 2012) and Finding A Job With a Psychology Bachelors Degree: Expert Advice for Launching Your Career (2009). He is a member of American Psychological Association (APA), Fellow of Division Two--Society for the Teaching of Psychology (STP), and in 2014 he will serve as STP President. He is an award-winner teacher and researcher; at Boise State he teaches General Psychology, Introduction to the Psychology Major, Statistical Methods, Research Methods, Psychological Measurement, and Capstone: History & Systems. Regan A. R. Gurung is Ben & Joyce Rosenberg Professor of Human Development and Psychology at the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay (UWGB). He received a B.A.


at Carleton College, and a Ph.D. at the University of Washington. He has published articles in a variety of scholarly journals including Psychological Review and Teaching of Psychology . He has a textbook, Health Psychology: A Cultural Approach , (now in its second edition) and six other books: Exploring Signature Pedagogies: Approaches to Teaching Disciplinary Habits of Mind (Gurung, Chick, & Haynie, 2009), Getting Culture (Gurung & Prieto, 2009); Optimizing Teaching and Learning (Gurung & Schwartz, 2009); The Psychology of Teaching: An Empirically Based Guide to Picking, Choosing, & Using Pedagogy (Schwartz & Gurung, in press), Exploring More Signature Pedagogies (Chick, Haynie, & Gurung, in press); and Culture & Mental Health (Eshun & Gurung, 2009). He is a Fellow of both American Psychological Association (APA) and Association for Psychological Science (APS) and is a winner of the Founders Award for Excellence in Teaching as well as the Founders Award for Scholarship at UWGB and was the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, Wisconsin Professor of the Year (2009). He is Past-President for the Society for the Teaching of Psychology.
