When he calms down, he decides to take a nap and begins to ponder what the presence really means. Just before dozing off, Brother Christian hazily envisions the Shepherd standing in front of him. Now, deep in a dream state he is greatly troubled. He is in Psalms 23 and dares to enter "the presence" where his enemies stand, those who cannot be seated at the Table. Brother Christian winds up in a hellish Maze and is completely traumatized! Who or What did he discover while "in the presence?".
