Having more years behind you than ahead changes one's focus and needs. Estate planning, financial planning, health care costs, mental capacity events, involvement of adult children, and more immediate retirement calculations are significant inquiries and concerns in an older divorce. What prompted my writing Divorce After 50 was the fact that few divorce attorneys were paying attention to these relevant issues, and I wanted potential divorce clients to be effective self-advocates and consumers of legal services and be better prepared to make monumental decisions impacting the remainder of their lives.
