The Promised Land
When their father is murdered in British Guiana, the three teenage Grain children journey back to England with their mother. Drawn into the swinging sixties, Matilda and her brother rapidly succumb to the intoxicating sense of freedom surrounding them. Only Joanna is determined to make a success of her life -- and when she marries a wealthy man, and eventually gains control of his company, it seems that nothing can stop her. But then she discovers how difficult it is to be a businesswoman at the top when one is very wealthy, very beautiful -- and very young.
