Sciatica is a common problem that is often misunderstood. Patients with lower, extremity symptoms are frequently seen by primary care physicians, physiatrists, general orthopedists, sports medicine physicians, and others. Understanding when this is of lumbar etiology, how to differentiate this from other causes, and how to initiate appropriate conservative or surgical plans is important for many. A definitive but practical book that clearly and easily addresses these issues regarding sciatica would be of use to all physicians seeing musculoskeletal conditions. The proposed book would delve into the underlying anatomy, pathophysiology, presentation, and management of sciatica, which may be of a number of different etiologies.
