At the Smithsonian's Anacostia Museum, Emma learns about the terrible oppression of slavery before the Civil War. Emma imagines that she and her family are escaping to the North with the help of the famous Underground Railroad. Hiding in abandoned wells and haystacks by day and running by night, Emma and her family avoid slave trackers and bloodhounds, moving from station to station on the Underground Railroad. Will they be able to make it to a life of freedom in Canada?.
