Book 3 and conclusion to the Down a Crooked Path trilogy. Eighteen years later James and Mary Muller and their two children, Noah and Rachel, consider the tiny principality north of Switzerland their home. Prince Joseph and Princess Hannah's two sons, Carl and Rolf, are like cousins to the American family. As agreed when Jospeh returned home, his son, Prince Carl will ascend the throne after his father, King Walther's reign to continue the Arnold dynasty. However, the king has been reversing the improvements and upgrades that Joseph and James had installed, and Prince Joseph is withdrawing from his old friend and his family. The Lord's grace had vanished that had allowed him to live as a prince despite his criminal past. Standing against the Spirit's call to face the families of his victims, he accepts the position of Crown Prince and forces James to leave the palace, giving him an assisstant position in the country's intelligence division. It seems as if other forces are working to destroy the country.

When James learns the prince's hidden past had been discovered, he sends his family back home to the States for their safety. James goes with Joseph to face his accusers and pay for his crimes. Upon his return to explain the prince's actions, the king and administration are deceived into believing James is working to bring down the country and destroy the family. Barely surviving with his life, James flees to America and tries to rebuild his life. The conspirators are discovered, his name is cleared, they forgive and reconcile. With his political science studies James is able to help the country move to a stable constitutional monarchy and the realm is secured.
