Emerald Wells Cafe ran as a serial for two years on a website named Hubpages. The story is centered on a Cafe in a small Texas town known as Emerald Wells. The Cafe is the center of the world for Earl, Em, Carl, Dale the Sheriff, who had known them all for their entire lives. The cast also includes the Townsends whose place is on the highway where they tend their orchards and Tom who is retired and bought the empty gas station at the turnoff to Emerald Wells and converted it first to his abode, then The Trading Post. The group meets monthly and shares their writing in the form of poetry readings. They call the event Speakeasy Night. They put on their go to meeting clothes, share their poetry, eat dessert and have a good time drinking special tea out of Em's Mom's China cups. Afterward they often stay, drop nickels in the jukebox and dance.

For the full stories of their lives get a copy of Emerald Wells Cafe and Pear Blossom Lane. The poetry written by Michael Friedman in twelve different voices is found in this volume. After reading, you will want to start your own Speakeasy Night.".
