An academic rivalry turns nasty during a planning retreat when the Departmental Chair is attacked. Bettina, a member of the department, and her American colleague Charlie, are drawn into determining who is behind the attack. When a subsequent attack proves fatal they realize the Tasmanian police are not up to the task and it's up to them to find the killer before he strikes again.
