While the oringal quilts are beautiful in their own right, Kaffe's interpretation of the originals is exquisite, with quilt designs that demonstrate his vivid and unique color combinations to perfection. Familiar block patterns used in the original quilts, such as Tumbling Blocks, Starburst, and Log Cabins, take on fresh new meaning in Kaffe's re-created designs with their vibrant, but subtle, color harmonies. In addition to a wonderful photographic gallery of the quilts themselves, shot in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, the book contains full step-by-step piecing instructions with detailed diagrams. It also contains a section on patchwork and quilting basics.
