A journeying troubadour stumbles upon a young man pining for the love of his sweetheart. He agrees to help him find her, but she is confined to the wheelhouse of an apple orchard and guarded by six milkmaids. He has to charm the milkmaids with fairy tales and songs to win their trust and earn passage to the girl.
