My story is one of a blessed life. I grew up in Denver with the support of my family. I have three siblings. My brother Robert, who lives in Oakland California, my sister Wanda, who lives in San Mateo, California, my Sister JoAnn who lives in Aurora Colorado, and my wonderful son Kyle Oliver Ewing who lives in Northglenn Colorado. Kyle had a huge influence on me throughout my career in education. There were times that I would come home from school and realize that Kyle kept my life in perspective. I would see students daily that struggled with life and realize that Kyle was a sounding board for me. My father was a Civil Engineer, and my mother was a school teacher.
My parents being highly educated was even more remarkable because they were black and educated during the forties and fifties. They remain the reason that inspired me to succeed in education and become involved in schools. I became a teacher, student advisor, assistant Principal, and a Principal. I feel truly blessed that I had parents that guided and kept me on the right path.
