Ivan Eland has worked for more than four decades in foreign policy, national security, energy, and presidential studies fields. His work experience includes 16 years working for the U.S. Congress, including at the Foreign Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives and the Congressional Budget Office. Subsequently, he worked as the Director of Defense Policy Studies at the Cato Institute and currently is the Director of the Center on Peace and Liberty at the Independent Institute. Eland has written eight other books, including five on national security, foreign policy, and energy topics and three on presidents and the presidency.
