But it was the invention of photography that democratized depictions. Now anyone could document even the most private experiences and, in some cases, sell them. Especially in the first half of the 20th century, the business with professional and private "dirty" images flourished. This selection of bizarre photography compiled by French collector Alexandre Dupouy is a unique cultural and historical document.
