Yona Goldrich (formerly Goldreich) and his younger brother, Bumek (Avraham), stood in front of their childhood home in Turka, on the border between Poland and Ukraine. Half a century had passed since the brothers last stood on Polish soil but suddenly time seemed to vanish. In his mind, Yona was once again a boy, nearly fifteen. World War II raged around them and Turka was under Nazi control. Death haunted them at every turn. Life for the boys was a desperate struggle to survive and a constant, heartbreaking search to reunite with family.
