'Review from a previous edition Overall, this book represents a lot of useful information in an accessible format. There is some overlap with existing resources, such as the British National Formulary and the Palliative Care Formulary, but this book is more concise, making information easier to access. Its focus on palliative care makes it most suitable for specialists in that field; however, the symptom management guides can also be useful forgeneralists.'European Journal of Palliative Care'This pocket reference book, now in its second edition, is a valuable guide to using palliative care drugs in clinical practice. It is split into three sections: an overview of clinical pharmacology; guidance on specific prescribing situations; and more than 160 monographs about drugs commonly used in palliative care listed in alphabetical order, enabling the user to find information quickly. I have found this reference guide, intended to informday-to-day prescribing decisions, easy to use in clinical practice, helpful and relevant. My copy is certainly well-thumbed! I would not hesitate to recommend it to all involved in prescribing in palliative care.'Clare Rayment, Consultant in Palliative Medicine, Marie Curie Hospice, Bradford, UK, for European Journal of Palliative Care, July 2013.
