Each volume opens with a colorful world map featuring the eleven biomes of the world; individual books then diverge into a specific biome. Five topics are covered in each book: climate, plants, animals, people, and future of the biome. Each of these main sections is separated by a two-page layout featuring a specific example of the region. The pictures, charts, and maps are the highlights of the series. Students will be drawn in by spectacular photography and fascinating factoid boxes. The books provide detailed information suitable for middle school research projects, and browsing potential is high due to the colorful, graphic nature of the set. While the majority of the information is available online, students will enjoy learning with these books much more than an electronic search. - Bethany Bratney, Media Specialist, Novi (Michigan) High School Library Media Connection May/June 2011.
