After being wounded on the Eastern front, Captain Kurt von Lister is posted to the General Staff in Berlin. On his return to Berlin he meets Major Karl von Hantz who asks him to join a military resistance group which is planning a coup d'etat. Lister agrees and becomes fully involved in the conspiracy. He is sent to Stockholm on a secret mission to contact a British Diplomat and comes into contact with both the Gestapo and the Underground.
