Robert Daley has written eighteen novels, and twelve nonfiction books. After military service he worked six seasons for the New York Football Giants. This was followed by six years as a New York Times correspondent in Europe, living in France but covering stories in eighteen countries. He served as an New York deputy police commissioner in 1971-72, one of the most tumultuous periods in the city's history, an experience that resulted later in a number of books. His books have been translated into fourteen languages. Many were book club selections both at home and abroad. Six have been filmed, including Prince of the City and Year of the Dragon. His articles and stories have appeared in Esquire, The Readers Digest, Vogue, Playboy, New York, The New York Times Magazine, Sports Illustrated, Life, The Saturday Evening Post and most other major American magazines.
