Comet over Greens Norton : New and Selected Poems
Comet Over Greens Norton brings together and reprints Reading a River (Shoestring, 2005) and Devil Among the Tailors (Shoestring, 2011), with some new poems. Simon Curtis writes from the formalist end of the poetry spectrum. There are poems about a shopping mall busker playing a tune Hardy knew, a mayfly hatch, 1970s Welsh rugby, a keep-fit gym, and both Captain and Beryl Cook. As well as writing light verse, he records a changeful British landscape with clarity and melancholy, while a number of poems are concerned with family bereavement.
