Reading A River contains work in Britain over three decades, from Simon Curtis's first book in 1975 up to the present. The pieces have a formalist bias; there are reflections on a natural; suburban and urban landscape and the Australian outback; on teaching; on bereavement and caring for the elderly; and also a number of lighter pieces. He hopes that the readers will enjoy and the poems.
