Shrew is the perfect term to describe Sharon Abramowitz. Drew Westen, social work professor and mother of two young children, would quickly agree to this evaluation of the rich society woman, even after meeting her for the first time at a party thrown by Sharon and her husband Rob to show off their newly redecorated mansion. While at the party, Drew witnesses Sharon brow-beat her husband in public and humiliate the cleaning lady Blanca. She also overhears Sharon in some rather mystifying discussions with various guests. Has Sharon hired a a Russian hit man to “off†her mealy-mouth spouse? Is she involved in a shady real estate deal? Is she be connected to a missing Congressional intern? Or is she just acting paranoid because she doesn’t want anyone to mar her beautiful new wood floors? Something strange seems to be going on, because the next day, Drew finds that Sharon, the shrew, has been murdered. Drew has no time to worry--or care--who offed the unpleasant woman––that is until the police arrest sweet Blanca, the dead woman’s maid for the crime. Then, Drew feels she must step in and find the true killer and exonerate the domestic worker who can barely speak English. Much to the annoyance of Drew’s husband Seth, Drew throws herself and her two babies into the fray as she attempts to track down every lead to help free Blanca.
Her social worker ire has been raised. On top of everything, Seth’s mother Barbara arrives to console her friend Arlene who just happens to be Rob’s mother, the deceased woman’s husband, and life in Drew’s home becomes chaotic. Will Drew track down the killer, save Blanca, and still care for her babies? Never doubt this snarky mom.
